Village Plan

Shadoxhurst has set up its own group to draw up a Village Plan.
The steering committee (with Cheryl Vander as chair) has begun the process of completing a community assessment.

The process  kicked off at the Shadoxhurst Fete where  villagers had the opportunity to meet the “team” and to say what they want for Shadoxhurst in the key areas of health, housing, transport, schooling — in fact every aspect of living in the village.  The committee now have over 120 completed questionnaires.

Since that event, we have all spent some hours reading the questionnaires and identified some key points which we can use to prepare our  Village Plan. As a first step, we intend to focus on a few improvements which we think are achievable in the short to medium term. (See the link below for summary analysis of results.)

We will concentrate on health and community issues in the short term.

Funding

We have been advised by Action with Communities in Rural Kent that our application for a grant to help us produce a Village Plan has been successful. Shadoxhurst Parish Council are preparing their budget for the year commencing April 2005 and they have also made provision for a grant to support the production of the Village Plan.
