of the Ordinary Parish Council Meeting held at The
Village Hall, Shadoxhurst
on
PRESENT: Mr W Hollands (Chair), Miss M Smith, Mr R Buss,
Mr H Clark and Mr B Howe

was one Member of the Public present.
1.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
An Apology for Absence was received from Mr A Pilton (prior engagement),
Borough Councillor Hicks, Borough Councillor Davison and County Councillor Angell.
2.
DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
Mr Buss and Mr Howe declared a personal interest in matters pertaining to Shadoxhurst Recreation Committee.

Updating of Declarations of Interest for the
Code of Conduct
The Clerk reminded Councillors that they should update their Declarations of Interest
with the Monitoring Officer if necessary.
3.
ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes 312 of the previous meeting were accepted and it was unanimously agreed that
Mr Hollands should sign them.

5.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
Mr Hollands reported that a car and a tractor
collided along the

tractor was unable to get over far enough to
the left to avoid the car because of the
telegraph pole that we recently complained to
Openreach about.

Insurance
The
Clerk reported that we must inform the insurance company of the date of the bonfire.
Newsletter
The current edition is in the process of
being distributed.
Crime and Disorder
Nothing to
report.
Appearance of Village
The Gardening Club have planted up 3 planters and Future Scholars have planted one.
The Clerk will purchase the necessary plaques next time she goes into Ashford. The
plaques to be brown with white writing and to measure 4 x 3.
The Parish Council will supply the plants for the remaining 2 planters. Mr Holland
offered to supply and plant for £60. Councillors unanimously agreed to this offer.
Village
Hall Heaters
Deferred to a future meeting. The item will remain on the agenda.
External
Repairs to Village Hall
Mr Howe handed the Chairman a list of
suggested repairs to the Village Hall (attached).
It was agreed that all the repairs, apart
from the repairs to the piers and the rendering
should be undertaken by Mr Buss, Mr Howe and
Mr Pilton. Materials and expenses
will be paid as appropriate.
Request
by Future Scholars to erect a fence at rear of Village Hall
The Clerk read out the letter from Future
Scholars requesting permission to erect a fence at
rear of Village Hall.
Resolution: Councillors unanimously agreed to the above
request. Future Scholars
to be
responsible for the installation and upkeep, but the fence becomes the property
of the
Parish Council in the event that they no longer hire the hall for the Nursery.
8. PUBLIC
INTERVAL
There meeting was opened to the member of the public present for questions and comments
from 8.30 8.40.
9. PLANNING

10. OUTSIDE REPORTS
Recreation Committee
Mr Hollands reported that
he had received a complaint from the daughter of a resident who
had asked to book the hall
for a tea party for her mothers 90th birthday. The booking was
refused on the grounds
there might be alcohol at the party and the Recreation Committee does
not have the necessary
licence. It was suggested that a form
should be produced which hirers
could sign stating that
there will not be any alcohol consumed at their event.

Nothing to report.
Borough Councillors Report
Neither
Councillor Hicks or Councillor Davison were at the meeting.
Councillor Angell was unable to attend this meeting.

Nothing to report.
11. VILLAGE RESPONSIBILITIES
Matters Arising from the Round
Robin
There
were no Matters Arising.
Items to be reported to the County Lengthsmen
The Clerk was asked to
contact KHS and inform them that the Parish Council are very
unhappy with the standard
of the repairs recently undertaken to potholes.
The holes have simply been
coated with tar and covered with a layer of grit. The
indentation in the road is
still there. Councillors consider the
exercise to have been a complete
waste of time and money.
